Taijiquan

Taijiquan is a Chinese martial art. Not only is it very effective in combat, it is also beneficial for health and spiritual refinement. The term Taijiquan is short for Taiji Quanfa which can be translated into „supreme ultimate fist technique“. Every movement in Taijiquan is based on martial considerations. A Taijiquan practitioner moves in a particular way that gives him the best advantage in a given combat situation.

The body for life program is a 12 week exercise and diet program which was created by Bill Phillips, a former competitive body-builder. It consists of daily, brief, progressive workouts, and six meals a day, consisting of a portion of protein, carbohydrates, and vegetables. The size of each portion is reduced to the size of the dieter’s palm and the dieter is told to drink at least 10 cups of water a day.

South Beach Diet

The South Beach Diet was developed by cardiologist Dr. Arthur Agatston for his chronically overweight heart patients. He emphasizes the consumption of good carbohydrates and good fat as opposed to the bad carbohydrates found in foods with a high glycemic index, and bad fat such as saturated fat and trans fat. In April 2003 he published his diet program in the book called „The South Beach Diet: The Delicious, Doctor-Designed, Foolproof Plan for Fast and Healthy Weight Loss“.

The Feldenkrais Method was developed by Moshe Feldenkrais who created his own method of physical rehabilitation, integrating anatomy, physiology, psychology, neurology, and martial arts. A key principle of the Feldenkrais Method is that the way we move, speak, and think is based on the conception we have of ourselves. In order to change the way we move, we have to change the way we see ourselves.
