Bai Zhi (Angelica Root)

Latin Name: Radix Angelicae Dahuricae

Properties: acrid, warm

Actions: dispels wind, removes damp, clears stuffed nose, relieves pain, reduces pus and swelling

Medical Indications: headaches (especially pain in the forehead), stuffed nose due to cold, sinusitis, white vaginal discharge, dry and itchy skin, sores and wounds

Contraindications: not to be used in cases of Yin and blood deficiency

Caution: according to some sources Bai Zhi antagonizes Xuan Fu Hua

Dosage: 3 to 10 grams
