Bai Wei (Swallowwort Root)

Latin Name: Radix Cynanchi Atrati

Properties: bitter, salty, cold

Actions: relieves heat, cools blood, promotes urination, detoxifies

Medical Indications: post partum fever, bloody or hot urination, edema, snake bite, toxic sores, abscesses, furuncles, swollen and painful throat, mastitis

Contraindications: not to be used together with Da Huang, Da Zao, Huang Qi, Gan Jiang, Shan Zhu Yu

Dosage: 4 to 9 grams
