Latin Name: Radix Paeoniae Lactiflorae
Properties: bitter, sour, cool
Actions: subdues hyperactivity of liver and relieves pain, nourishes blood and regulates menstruation, checks excessive perspiration
Medical Indications: ulcer of duodenum and stomach, viral hepatitis, asthma, whooping coughs, diabetes, headaches and dizziness, abdominal pain, spasmodic pain of limbs, jerky legs, anemia, menstrual disorders, spontaneous sweating, night sweating
Contraindications: not to be used in cases of Yang deficiency with diarrhea
Caution: Bai Shao may cause drowsiness and may impair the ability to drive and/or operate machinery
Dosage: 6 to 15 grams
