Bai Fu Zi (Typhonium Rhizome)

Latin Name: Rhizoma Typhonii Gigantei

Properties: acrid, warm, toxic

Actions: dries damp, expels wind, transforms phlegm, stops spasms, eliminates and dissipates toxicity, stops pain

Medical Indications: tremors, convulsions, hemiplegia, facial paralysis, bells palsy, tetanus, epilepsy, migraines, numbness, dizziness, joint and muscle pains, severe headaches due to cold-damp conditions, topically for snake bites

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy, not to be used in Yin deficient heat conditions, not to be used in heat stroke caused by liver fire

Caution: fresh Bai Fu Zi is toxic, it should be used only externally

Dosage: 3 to 5 grams
