Bian Dou

Latin Name: Semen Dolichoris Lablab

Properties: sweet, neutral

Actions: clears dampness and summer heat, strengthens spleen, dissolves damp without drying, removes toxins

Medical Indications: vomiting, nausea, diarrhea associated with summer heat and dampness, chronic diarrhea, loose stools, fatigue, lethargy, disinterest in food, excess vaginal discharge, alcohol or food poisoning

Contraindications: not to be used in patients with intermittent chills and fevers

Caution: use dried herb as fresh Bai Bian Dou is toxic

Dosage: 10 to 30 grams
