Ba Yue Za (Akebia Fruit)

Latin Name: Fructus Akebiae Trifoliatae

Properties: slightly cold, bitter

Actions: spreads liver Qi, dissipates nodules, cysts, and tumors caused by Qi stagnation and phlegm, diuretic

Medical Indications: chest, epigastric, and hernial pain associated with liver and stomach disharmony, breast fibroids and tumors, digestive tract tumors, difficult and stony urination, red urine, gonorhea, edema

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy

Caution: to be used with caution in Yin deficient patients

Dosage: 3 to 9 grams
