Green Tea Part 4 - Brewing
|
Good quality water is essential for making a good cup of green tea, so make sure you’re using good water. Don’t brew your green tea too hot, it will become bitter. 80 degree Celsius or 170 degree Fahrenheit bring the best result. Green tea leaves need room to expand and impart their aroma to the water that they are being infused in. Therefore, tea balls or tea bags do not work well. The best way to brew green tea is to allow the tea leaves to sit loose in the water and steep for no longer than two or three minutes. Approximately 3 grams or half a tablespoon of tea leaves are needed for one cup of tea.
Appreciation of green tea is not limited to the taste alone, your other senses can be used as well. You can smell the tea and enjoy the aroma, you can look at the bright green color and watch the leaves gently unfolding in your cup, which is also called „the dance of tea“ and which in itself is considered a great joy. Allow yourself to relax and sip slowly, letting the tea roll down your tongue and thus savor the pleasing scent of the aroma.
