Qin Jiao (Gentiana Macrophylla Root)

Latin Name: Radix Genianae Macrophyllae

Properties: acrid, bitter, slightly cold

Actions: dispels wind dampness, relaxes sinews, opens channels, moistens intestines, unblocks bowels, relieves jaundice, clears deficiency heat

Medical Indications: rheumatoid arthritis, pain and cramps in extremities, dry constipation, jaundice, TB with hot flashes, steaming bone disorder, low grade - or afternoon fever, post febrile diseases

Contraindications: not to be used in cases with loose stool caused by spleen deficiency, not to be used in cases of cold in spleen and stomach

Caution: Qin Jiao may cause drowsiness and may impair the ability to drive and/or operate machinery

Dosage: 4.5 to 12 grams
