Green Tea Part 3 - Side Effects and Interaction with Other Drugs
|
Even more confusing are reports on esophageal cancer. While one study found green tea to significantly protect against the development of esophageal cancer, another study published an association between green tea consumption and an increased risk of developing esophageal cancer. It is evident that further research is needed on that.
There is also some conflicting information as to the daily amount of green tea which is needed to achieve the best possible health benefits. Some reports state that one should drink at least 10 cups a day in order to prevent cancer, others claim to achieve that with 2 cups a day.
Green tea like any other herb contains active substances that can trigger side effects and interact with other substances like other herbs, supplements, or medications. There are case reports of green tea interacting with the anticoagulant warfarin. To be on the safe side, it is advised to consult your doctor before you decide to take green tea.
