Qian Hu (Hogfennel Root)

Latin Name: Radix Peucedani

Properties: bitter, acrid, slightly cold

Actions: directs lung Qi down, dispels phlegm, releases wind from exterior

Medical Indications: respiratory infection with cough and dyspnea, difficult to expel thick phlegm, asthma, headaches with symptoms of wind heat

Contraindications: not to be used in cases with cough caused by Yin deficiency fire, not to be used in cases of cough with cold and thin mucous

Caution: to be used with caution together with anticoagulant drugs

Dosage: 3 to 9 grams
