Qian Cao Gen (Rubia Root, Madder Root)

Latin Name: Radix Rubiae

Properties: bitter, cold

Actions: cools blood, invigorates blood, dispels blood stasis

Medical Indications: vomiting blood, coughing blood, nosebleed, blood in stool or urine, and uterine bleeding due to heat. anemia, dysmenorrhea, traumatic injuries, chronic skin rashes, eczema

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy, not to be used in cases with spleen or stomach deficiency cold

Dosage: 9 to 15 grams
