Long Dan Cao (Gentiana)

Latin Name: Radix Gentianae

Properties: bitter, cold

Actions: drains heat and damp from liver and gallbladder channels, drains and pacifies liver fire

Medical Indications: hypertension, headaches, tinnitus, dizziness, fever, spasms and convulsions, conjunctivitis, jaundice, ear pain, pain and swelling in genital area, blood-shot eyes, sore throat, vaginal discharge, rib pain

Contraindications: not to be used in cases of diarrhea due to spleen and stomach deficiency

Dosage: 0.3 to 3 grams
