Lian Qiao (Forsythia Fruit)

Latin Name: Fructus Forsythiae

Properties: bitter, cool, slightly acrid

Actions: clears heat toxins, disperses lumps and nodules, expels external wind heat

Medical Indications: sores, abscesses, carbuncles, scrofula, neck lumps, etc. due to heat, common cold due to wind heat, fever, thirst, delirium

Contraindications: not to be used in cases of diarrhea due to spleen and stomach deficiency, not to be used in cases of Yin type abscesses

Dosage: 6 to 15 grams
