Latin Name: Radix Platycodi

Properties: bitter, acrid, neutral

Actions: opens and disseminates lung Qi, dispels phlegm, promotes discharge of pus, benefits throat, raises lung - and large intestine Qi

Medical Indications: bronchitis, tonsilitis, cough with phlegm, sore throat, hoarseness, abscesses and pus in lung and throat with symptoms such as fever, chest pain, and bloody cough, diarrhea, anuria, edema

Contraindications: not to be used in cases of Yin deficiency with chronic cough, bloody vomit, and breathing difficulties

Dosage: 3 to 9 grams
