Latin Name: Dioscorea Bulbifera

Properties: bitter, neutral

Actions: clears heat and toxins, cools blood, stops bleeding, reduces swellings, reduces phlegm

Medical Indications: cancer of stomach, esophagus, thyroid, liver, and colon, meoptysis, hematemesis, uterine bleeding, epistaxis, bronchitis, cough, dyspnea, asthma

Contraindications: not to be used in patients with hepatitis or cirrhosis
Caution: Huang Yao Zi is toxic, should not be used long term; liver function should be monitored when taking this herb

Dosage: 9 to 15 grams
