Properties: bitter, cold

Actions: clears heat, drains fire, relieves toxins, clears heart and stomach fire, stops bleeding

Medical Indications: high fever, delirium, vomiting, acid regurgitation, bad breath and belching, dysentery, diarrhea, epistaxis, blood in urine, stool, or vomit, insomnia, middle ear infection, external ear infection, ulceration of tongue and mouth, eczema

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy

Caution: to be used with caution in cases with Yin or blood deficiency, diarrhea or stomach cold due to kidney or spleen deficiency, to be used with caution together with Xuan Shen, Ju Hua, Jiang Can, and Niu Xi

Dosage: 1.5 to 9 grams
