Latin Name: Cortex Phellodendri

Properties: bitter, cold

Actions: removes damp heat, reduces kidney fire, counteracts toxicity, relieves consumptive fever

Medical Indications: acute urinary tract infections, dysentery, jaundice, diarrhea due to damp heat, vaginal bacterial infections, yeast infections, bacterial infections of bowel, afternoon fevers, night sweats, nocturnal emissions, spermatorrhea, eczema, abscesses, furuncles, boils

Contraindications: not to be used in cases with spleen deficiency

Dosage: 3 to 12 grams
