Latin Name: Rhizoma Picrorhizae

Properties: bitter, cool

Actions: clears heat from deficiency, reliefs heat toxicity, reduces childhood malnutrition

Medical Indications: diabetes, indigestion, diarrhea due to bacterial infection, inflammation of intestine, high fever, excess stomach acid, nose bleeding caused by heat in blood, tooth ache, middle ear infection, childhood malnutrition with symptoms such as afternoon fevers, dysentery, and abdominal distention, external ear infection, eczema, boils, ulceration of tongue and mouth, inflammation of cornea

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy

Caution: to be used with caution in cases of weak spleen and stomach

Dosage: 3 to 9 grams
