Zi Wan (Purple Aster Root)

Latin Name: Radix Asteris Tatarici

Properties: bitter, acrid, slightly warm

Actions: expels phlegm, redirects rebellious Qi downward, stops cough

Medical Indications: cough, chronic cough due to lung Yin deficiency, coughing blood, throat inflammation, difficulty in urination

Contraindications: none

Caution: to be used with caution in cases of Yin deficiency with heat signs

Dosage: 5 to 10 grams
