Zhi Shi (Immature Bitter Orange)
Latin Name: Fructus Aurantii Immaturus
Properties: bitter, sour, acrid, slightly cold
Actions: Eleminates stagnation of Qi, reduces accumulation, relieves distension, transforms phlegm
Medical Indications: abdominal and epigastric pain and distension, indigestion with gas, belching, foul breath, dystentery, constipation, tenesmus, bloating in chest, abdomen, and solar plexus area, angina, coronary heart disorders, shortness of breath, poor appetite, weakness and fatigue caused by phlegm accumulation
Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy, not to be used in cases of Qi, spleen, and stomach deficiency
Dosage: 3 to 10 grams
