Latin Name: Radix Polygalae

Properties: bitter, acrid, slightly warm

Actions: expels phlegm from lungs, clears orifices, calms spirit, quiets heart, reduces abscesses, dissipates swellings

Medical Indications: angina pectoris, cough with abundance of phlegm, palpitations, anxiety, insomnia, restlessness, disorientation, seizures, spasms, abscesses, sores, boils, painful breasts, breast tumors

Contraindications: not to be used in cases of Yin deficiency with heat signs

Caution: to be used with caution in cases of spleen deficiency

Dosage: 5 to 10 grams
