Xu Duan (Japanese Teasel Root)

Latin Name: Radix Dipsaci

Properties: acrid, bitter, slightly warm

Actions: tonifies liver and kidneys, strengthens bones and sinews, invigorates blood, stops uterine bleeding, calms fetus, alleviates pain, generates flesh

Medical Indications: osteoporosis, injured bones, stiff joints, lower back and knee weakness and pain, bleeding during pregnancy, heavy menses, bleeding between menses, vaginal discharge, hemorrhoids, threatened abortion, trauma injuries

Contraindications: none

Caution: to be used with caution in cases with Yin deficiency with deficient fire

Dosage: 10 to 20 grams
