Xiang Fu (Nut Grass Rhizome)

Latin Name: Rhizoma Cyperi Rotundi

Properties: acrid, slightly sweet, slightly warm, neutral

Actions: regulates Qi, spreads liver Qi, regulates menstruation, alleviates pain

Medical Indications: liver Qi stagnation with symptoms such as pain in epigastric region and abdomen, poor appetite, emotional disturbance, chest congestion, gynecological disorders such as dysmenorrhea and irregular menses, breast distension

Contraindications: not to be used in cases of Qi deficiency or Yin deficiency with heat, or heat in blood, not to be used in cases without Qi stagnation

Dosage: 4.5 to 12 grams
