Latin Name: Radix Panacis Quinquefolii

Properties: sweet, slightly bitter, cool

Actions: tonifies Yin and Qi, tonifies lung, generates fluids, clears fire, calms brain

Medical Indications: chronic, low grade fever, thirst, dry mouth and tongue due to Yin deficiency, loss of voice, poor appetite, fatigue, weakness, weight loss, palpitations anxiety, irritability, insomnia, night sweat, cough, wheezing, bloody sputum, dyspnea, pulmonary tuberculosis

Contraindications: not to be used in cases of excess fire with stagnation, not to be used in cases of damp cold in middle Jiao, not to be used together with Li Lu

Dosage: 1.5 to 9 grams
