Latin Name: Semen Descurainiae Seu Lepidii

Properties: acrid, bitter, cold

Actions: drains lung heat, relieves phlegm, moves water, reduces edema

Medical Indications: cough with excess wheezing, excess sputum, and gurgling sound in throat, ascites, pulmonary edema, urinary difficulty, acute nephritis in children

Contraindications: not to be used in cases of cough due to lung Qi deficiency, not to be used in cases of edema due to spleen deficiency

Dosage: 3 to 9 grams
