Tian Hua Fen (Trichosanthes Root)

Latin Name: Radix Trichosanthis

Properties: bitter, slightly sweet, cold

Actions: drains heat, generates fluid, drains lung heat, moistens lung, transforms phlegm, dispels pus, relieves toxicity

Medical Indications: wasting and thirsting disorder, dry mouth, dry lips, dry tongue, cough with thick or blood streaked sputum, thirst, carbuncles, sores with swelling, redness, and pain, breast abscesses, hemorrhoids

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy, not to be used together with Fu Zi

Caution: to be used with Caution in cases of cold and spleen and stomach deficiency

Dosage: 9 to 15 grams
