Meng Chong (Gadfly, Tabanus)

Latin Name: Tabanus

Properties: bitter, slightly cold, toxic

Actions: moves blood, breaks blood stagnation, unblocks menses

Medical Indications: traumatic injuries, amenorrhea, irregular menses, retention of lochia and abdominal masses

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy, Meng Chong is known to cause birth defects

Dosage: 1 to 1.5 grams
