Latin Name: Radix Stephaniae Tetrandae

Properties: bitter, acrid, very cold

Actions: expels wind damp, regulates water passages, reduces edema, promotes urination, relieves pain

Medical Indications: ascites, edema in lower body, abdominal distention, swollen and hot joints due to damp heat

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy
Caution: to be used with caution in cases with Yin, spleen, and stomach deficiency, to be used with caution together with diuretics

Dosage: 4.5 to 9 grams
