Latin Name: Semen Trichosanthis

Properties: sweet, cold

Actions: moistens lungs, expands chest, transforms phlegm heat, moistens intestines, eliminates pus, promotes healing of sores and nodules

Medical Indications: dry cough, chest pain, pain and stifling sensation in chest or diaphragm caused by phlegm accumulation, dry stools and constipation caused by heat in stomach and large intestine, abscesses in intestines and breasts, sores not suppurated, carbuncles

Contraindications: not to be used in cases with nausea or loose stools caused by weak spleen, not to be used together with Wu Tou

Dosage: 10 to 15 grams
