Gua Lou Pi (Trichosanthes Peel)

Latin Name: Pericarpium Trichosanthis

Properties: sweet, cold

Actions: regulates Qi, expands chest, transforms phlegm heat

Medical Indications: dry cough, dyspnea, chest pain that worsens with pressure, chest congestion, yellow sputum, dry throat, breast abscesses, clumping in chest

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy, not to be used in cases with spleen and stomach deficiency, not to be used together with Wu Tou

Dosage: 6 to 12 grams
