Latin Name: Fructus Trichosanthis

Properties: sweet, slightly bitter, slightly cold

Actions: clears lung heat, transforms phlegm, expels pus, gets rid of toxicity, unbinds chest, reduces abscesses, dissipates nodules

Medical Indications: cough with phlegm, painful obstruction in chest due to heat and phlegm, constriction, pain and pressure in diaphragm, abscesses in lungs, breasts, or intestines, nodules

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy, not to be used in cases with diarrhea due to spleen and stomach deficiency, not to be used together with Wu Tou

Dosage: 10 to 20 grams
