Latin Name: Radix Puerariae

Properties: sweet, pungent, cool

Actions: relieves fever, releases muscles, disperses wind heat, stops diarrhea and dysentery, reduces symptoms of hypertension, promotes production of body fluid, stops thirst

Medical Indications: tight and stiff muscles in upper back and neck caused by external pathogens, fever, headaches, stomach heat with thirst, diarrhea or dysentery due to heat, acute ileus, diabetes, paresthesia, dizziness, and tinnitus due to hypertension

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy

Caution: allergic hemolytic reactions resulting in death have been reported after puerarin injections

Dosage: 3 to 12 grams
