Gan Sui (Kansui Root)

Latin Name: Radix Kansui

Properties: sweet, bitter, cold, toxic

Actions: clears heat, reduces swelling, drains fluid accumulation in chest and abdomen, treats skin inflammations caused by damp heat

Medical Indications: cough, dyspnea, fullness of epigastric region caused by internal retention of water, ascites, skin inflammation due to damp heat

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy

Caution: to be used with caution in weak patients

Dosage: 0.5 to 1.5 grams
