Fu Zi (Aconite)

Latin Name: Radix Aconiti Carmichaeli

Properties: acrid, hot, toxic

Actions: restores Yang, improves fire, disperses cold

Medical Indications: profuse sweating with dropping body temperature, cold and pain in chest and abdomen, muscle spasms in cholera, chronic muscle or joint pain due to wind cold dampness, chronic diarrhea caused by spleen deficiency, tightness and pain in muscles and joints, edema and coldness in lower legs caused by kidney Yang deficiency

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy

Caution: Fu Zi is very toxic. To lessen toxicity, soak and let simmer in water for 4 to 6 hours

Dosage: 1.5 to 12 grams
