Feng Mi (Honey)

Latin Name: Mel

Properties: sweet, neutral

Actions: moistens lung, lubricates intestines, tonifies spleen and stomach, dispels toxins, alleviares pain, is added to many formulas

Medical Indications: chronic lung deficiency with cough, dry constipation, poor appetite, pain, ingested poison and heat toxins

Contraindications: not to be used in cases of bloating or fullness of the abdomen, not to be used in damp or phlem conditions, not to be used in infants under one year of age

Caution: to be used with caution in patients with loose stool

Dosage: 15 to 30 grams

Note: as antidote for an overdose of Wu Tou, 50 – 100 grams of Feng Mi are taken with warm water
