Latin Name: Cortex Lycii

Properties: sweet, neutral

Actions: reduces heat in blood, clears lung heat, stops cough and wheezing, relieves consumptive fever, nourishes and tonifies liver and kidney, alleviates pain, improves night vision, improves diabetes

Medical Indications: consumptive diseases with afternoon fever and night sweating, cough, epistaxis and hemoptysis caused by heat in lung, diabetes due to internal heat

Contraindications: not to be used in cases with external heat, spleen deficiency with dampness, loose stool, or diarrhea

Dosage: 6 to 15 grams
