Chuan Xin Lian (Green Chiretta, Andrographis Herb)

Latin Name: Herba Andrographis

Properties: bitter, cold

Actions: removes heat, counteracts toxicity, reduces swellings

Medical Indications: heat and fire in lungs manifesting as asthma, cough, dyspnea, lung abscesses, or sore throat, urinary tract infections, infections of the gastrointestinal tract, diarrhea, influenca with fever, mouth boils, toxic skin disorders such as eczema

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy, not to be used in cases of duodenum or stomach ulcers

Caution: long term use or large dosage may injure stomach function

Dosage: 9 to 15 grams
